EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
Do you ever experience unwanted and unpleasant reminders of past negative experiences and feel or react as if you were reliving that moment right now? Maybe you have nightmares relating to past trauma or go out of your way to avoid reminders of these past moments.

Whether in person or via telehealth, you might benefit from participation in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. EMDR has been proven effective in treating post-traumatic stress as well as anxiety, low self esteem, chronic pain and other conditions. For a brief description about the benefits and process of EMDR, check out the videos below!
There are several ways to participate in EMDR such as traditional eye movements, sound or tapping or other tactile sensations. If you are interested in EMDR, we will find the options that best fit your needs.
There are different protocols within EMDR to address different events and symptoms of post-traumatic stress.  On that note, I am trained and efficient in at least the following at this time -
- Standard protocol for single event or distant past traumas that are no longer ongoing.
- I have received over 30 hours of additional training on EMDR with dissociative disorders.
- Training in ASSYST for intervention in the first hours or days of any traumatic event; proven to decrease likelihood of developing PTSD. Trained for individual and group practice.

- Trained in PRECI and IGTP for prolonged, repeated or multiple traumatic events or C-PTSD and people undergoing life-changing experiences with ongoing traumatic stress: including cult survivors, cancer patients, refugees, and prolonged violent conflict survivors.

For more information on standard EMDR's research and phases, I recomend visiting The EMDR Institute's website:
