"Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we're supposed to be and embracing who we are." -Brené Brown
My name is Brittany Garcia (she/her) and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor practicing in Billings, Montana, and providing telehealth in Idaho and Montana.
I work with teens & adults experiencing symptoms relating to trauma survival, dissociation, depression and adjustment to significant life changes. I offer Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Adult Sandtray Interventions, parts work and EMDR therapy for clients hoping to heal attachment wounds, break harmful cycles, cope with cancer or create healthy connections. I am an LGBT+ affirming clinician and have worked with several clients on understanding and accepting their own identity, living more authentically and building a support system.
I opened my practice in January 2022, not knowing I would be diagnosed with cancer in February. As a cancer patient, I was a client for trauma work specifically designed to work with cancer patients and others dealing with ongoing traumatic stress. After seeing it making a huge difference in my ability to cope, I was trained in the modality as well and am humbled to be able to bring unique skills to aid other cancer fighters.
My additional experience comes from working at an advocacy center with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, in community mental health, and with teens at a residential treatment center. I have enjoyed working with clients age 3 to 85 incorporating trauma-focused and multicultrual therapy. I fully completed EMDR training in July 2019 and receive ongoing regular consultation. I am trained in and have experience with treating dissociative disorders, recent or ongoing traumatic stress, and disaster response therapy via EMDR therapy when appropriate.
Life happens. We need support and self compassion to get through it. Believing that authentic, healthy connection with others is necessary for healing and happiness, I intend to help clients create mutually-growth-fostering relationships where both parties feel heard and understood in and outside of our sessions alongside of your personal treatment goals.
